The Environment as a Catalyst to Peace in the Middle East: A presentation by Jordanian, Palestinian, and Israeli alumni of the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies.
The Arava Institute is the premier environmental teaching and research program in the Middle East, preparing future Arab and Jewish leaders to cooperatively solve the region's environmental challenges. The program is located in Israel and it brings Jordanians, Palestinians, Israelis and overseas students together to study the environment and learn peace building skills. The students live and study together for a semester or a year. In addition, the Institute conducts cross border environmental research projects. Using the idea that nature knows no political borders the Arava Institute demonstrates how the environment can be a catalyst for peace in the Middle East.
