Info for High School Students

The following criteria are used to evaluate applicants for admission to the Stockbridge School:

  • high school performance as reflected in the quality of courses and grades 
  • standardized test scores (SATs or ACTs)
  • work or extracurricular experience in your field of interest
  • career goals
  • letters of recommendation
  • quality of your application, including your personal statement

Applicants must be high school graduates or have earned the equivalency diploma. Course work in high schoolshould include four years of English, algebra through Algebra II, and at least one lab science course. Experience has indicated that both biology and chemistry provide useful background for courses in the Stockbridge majors. Therefore students are encouraged to take these courses in high school. Chemistry is required for students applying for Equine Industries. A foreign language is not required of applicants to the Stockbridge School.

An applicant's academic ability is the best indicator of potential success at the Stockbridge School. It is expected that students have average or better than average grades and standardized test scores.
