what is opus one?

Opus One is the primary string chamber ensemble at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As there is no conductor, we demonstrate the potential of a collaborative approach to music making.

In addition to two main concerts every season of select chamber works for string ensembles, Opus One is actively involved in various community efforts in the greater Massachusetts area, including our annual String Day event for musicians of all ages in the Pioneer Valley.

As the season progresses, keep a lookout here on our website for further details. The 'news' section below will be updated frequently to bring our supporters the latest information on all of our activities.

Hello All!

Congrats to all those who participated in a great rendition of Bartók's "Roumanian Folk Dances" and Schoenberg's "Verklärte Nacht" from the concert last Tuesday.

Additionally, be sure to check out the pictures from Fall 2011 in the "pictures" section, linked above.
