If you're looking to buy a domain name and server space, here are a list of reputable companies where you can shop around: Fat Cow, InMotion, GoDaddy, Hostgator, A Small Orange and iPage.

Most likely you'll need only a very basic plan. If you're using eCommerce features, Wordpress or Drupal, make sure your hosting plan can support these features.

The main problems students encounter with FTP come from not writing correct file paths. Double check that everything's working once you put your site online!

If you want to continue developing your design skills, there are plenty of resources online. AIGA, the largest professional design organization, has student groups around the country. The Society for News Design has a student contest, as does the Online News Association.

How and Communication Arts are industry standard design magazines, and Site Inspire does its job well.

If you want to continue coding, Code Academy is your best resource. Learn Python the Hard Way is also free online.
